Field Trips at Wild Animal Adventure Park

An educational opportunity for school groups!

Standard Field Trip

  • Rate 6.95 per person extra adult rate 9.95 per person
  • One adult free for every twelve children
  • Bus driver free
  • Minimum of fifteen students

Wild Animal Adventure Field Trips Features:

  • Guided tour with an educator who will answer questions, facilitate feedings, and provide hands on opportunities!
  • Ability to feed variety of animals– pet zoo, deer, emu, and mini horse donkey!
  • The experience of touching animals like alligators, snakes, lizards, farm animals, donkey, deer and more!
  • Access and reserved space in picnic area for lunching and gathering space!
  • Availability to use Jungle playground (your supervision will be required).
  • Feel free to revisit areas in the park after tour. Students must be supervised at all times!

Wild Animal Adventure Zoo Labs

Zoo Labs are 45-minute courses based around a concept or area of learning. We have a variety of topics to choose from for a wide range of student ages. The labs are aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards!

Class fee is $5.00 per student. Zoo admission is not included with the class but can be added for $3.95 per student. The tour around the park will be self-guided.

One guardian or teacher required per fifteen students. Minimum of twenty students required. Additional adults attending the class will be counted and charged as a student attendee.

Lab Courses Grades K-2

Animal Adaptations

Through student-led observations in the classroom and around the park, participants will learn how animals are suited to live in their native environments. We will explore camouflage, physical attributes, and behaviors that lend to their success. Students investigate several animal habitats, learning and evaluating how these habitats meet animals’ needs and how animals are adapted to survive in them. Bio- samples will be provided with other hands-on activities. Missouri Learning Standards addressed: K.PS1.A.1, K.LS1.C.1, K.ESS2.E.1, 1.LS1.A.1, 1.LS3.A.1, 2.PS1.A.1, 2.PS1.A.2

ECO Kindness

Learn about the unique wildlife of Missouri with the help biofacts from the education department and observation. Participants will learn about the niche each animal fills in the environment and discuss what we all can do to help conserve wildlife habitats. Our personal impact on the environment will be explored as well as solutions and ideas to be kind to our ecosystem. Hands on activities and displays will be involved as well as a portion of traveling through our nature trail. Students will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear to explore nature. Missouri Learning Standards addressed: K.LS1.C.1, K.PS1.A.1, K.ETS1.A.1, K.ESS.E.1, K.ESS3.C.1, 1.LS1.A.1, 1.ETS1.A.1, 2.ETS1.A.1

Scales Are Not Scary

Meet and hold several amazing ambassador animals as you learn about what makes reptiles interesting and unique. Bio-facts from the education department will also be available to help participants recognize, describe, and classify distinct types of reptiles. Students will learn facts about venomous and non-venomous animals. See several of the venomous lizards and find out what makes them unique. We will explore the keeping of reptiles in captivity and responsible handling of these special critters! Missouri Learning Standards addressed: K.LS1.C.1, KPS1.A.1, K.PS2.A.2, 1.LS1.A.1, 1.LS3.A.1, 2.PS1.A.1

Tremendous Testudines

Turtles or tortoise? That is the questions. Students will learn about these amazing, shelled animals through several ambassador animals and bio- artifacts. We will explore their habitats and behaviors that make these critters so unique. Students can experiment what life would be like carrying a shell around and other attributes that make them suited to live in their environments! Missouri Learning Standards addressed: K.LS1.C.1, K.PS1.A.1,1.LS3..A.1, 1.LS1.A.1, 2.PS1.A.2

Lab Courses Grades 3-5

Animal Adaptations

Why is a tiger striped?! Through student-led observations in the classroom and around the park, participants will learn how animals are suited to live in their native environments. We will explore camouflage, physical attributes, and behaviors that lend to their success. Students will learn how animals are connected to other plants and animals in its habitat and environment. Underwater Living

Take a trip deep underwater to learn all about some of the incredible creatures you can find! Eels, sharks, manatees, fish, and shellfish are important to humans. Students will explore attributes that make underwater living possible and special! Students will explore the water worlds of fresh and salt water through observation and the use of bio samples. They will investigate body structures and skeletons to see the variety aquatic animals possess. Knowledgeable educators will lead class to discuss conservation actions they can take to protect these water-loving animals and their habitats. Missouri Learning Standards addressed: 3.LS3.B.1, 3. LS3.C.1, 4.LS1.A.1, 5.LS1.A.1

Decomposers

Decomposers play a crucial role in keeping the Earth clean and healthy. Meet the organisms whose role is to keep the environment free of trash, dead animals, and natural litter, and how this benefits everyone, including other plants and animals. Through the use of ambassador animals and bio samples students will explore natures cleaning crew. Experiments will be conducted, and we might even build an environment suitable for these essential members of the worlds ecosystems Missouri Learning Standards addressed: 3.LS3.B.1, 3.LS3.C.1, 4.LS1.A.1, 5.LS1.A.1

Endangered Animals

Many varieties of animals are nearing extinction in their native habitats! Students will explore why this is occurring and steps that can be done to change this fate. We will meet with several animal ambassadors as we learn about things that we can do to save animals that are in danger. Missouri Learning Standards Addressed: 3.LS3.C.1, 4.LS1.A.1, 5.LS3.A.1

Owl Pellet Dissection

Instantly engage your students with hands-on, real science exploration into the fascinating world of the owl and an introduction to the skeletal anatomy of mammals. This hands-on dissection class will introduce students to appropriate scientific tool use to explore what owls eat by dissecting an owl pellet. An educator will lead the class on techniques to successfully find potential bones, fur, and feathers in the pellet, as well as answer owl-specific questions. This class is limited to twenty participants at a time. The fee for this class is 6.95 to cover the cost of experiment supplies.
